About Open QR Maker
A free, ad-free QR code generator that runs entirely in your browser.
Many QR code generators upload your data, show ads, or reserve useful features for subscribers. The "open" in the name describes what gets collected, how the tool works, and how it stays free.
How It Works
Anything you type into the generator stays local in your browser: URLs, WiFi passwords, vCard fields, message bodies, and anything else. There is no server endpoint that receives QR input.
You can use it with data you may avoid sending to a hosted generator, such as WiFi passwords, confidential contact cards, or links to internal staging environments. Open QR Maker does not transmit this input.
As a side effect, the tool works offline after the first page load. The generator is already in the JavaScript bundle your browser downloaded when you first visited the site, so you can even turn off your Internet connection, and it will still work.
What Is Collected
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to record pseudonymous usage events. These include the selected input mode, export format, logo use, and a range containing the batch size. These events do not contain the content of your QR codes. The full event list and cookie inventory are documented in the privacy policy. If you say no in the cookie banner, no analytics requests are ever sent. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we honor it without asking.
How It Stays Free
The site is funded by voluntary tips. The site has no ads or paid tiers. Every feature is available to everyone.
If the tool saves you time, the tip jar helps cover hosting and domain renewals. The tool has the same features whether you tip or not.
What It Is Not
- Open QR Maker generates static codes. It does not provide dynamic QR codes or managed redirects.
- Open QR Maker does not track scans, redirect visitors, or count QR code opens. Use a separate analytics service if you need scan tracking.
- The site generates QR codes but does not scan them. Use a phone camera or QR reader to scan a code.
- The site provides no support contract, service-level agreement, or enterprise plan. Use a commercial service if you need those terms. Test each code on multiple devices before a large print run.

The home page should work for any kind of QR code. If you came here looking for a specific format, the dedicated landing pages preload the right input mode:
