About Open QR Maker
A free, ad-free QR code generator that runs entirely in your browser.
Most QR code generators upload your data, bury the tool under ads, or gate the useful features behind a subscription. The "open" in the name is a specific claim: open about what gets collected, open about how it works, and open about how it stays free.
How It Works
Anything you type into the generator stays local in your browser: URLs, WiFi passwords, vCard fields, message bodies, and anything else. There is no server endpoint that receives QR input.
That means you can use it with data you would not normally paste into a free web tool, like WiFi passwords, confidential contact cards, or links to internal staging environments. If it stays in the browser, there is nothing to worry about.
As a side effect, the tool works offline after the first page load. The generator is already in the JavaScript bundle your browser downloaded when you first visited the site, so you can even turn off your Internet connection, and it will still work.
What Is Collected
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to record anonymous usage events: which input mode was chosen, which export format was downloaded, whether a logo was used, the size of batch jobs. None of those events contain the content of your QR codes. The full event list and the cookie inventory are documented in the privacy policy. If you say no in the cookie banner, no analytics requests are ever sent. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we honor it without asking.
How It Stays Free
The site is funded by voluntary tips, not ads or a paid tier. Every feature is available to everyone.
If the tool saves you time and you want to keep it ad-free, the tip jar covers hosting and domain renewals. If tipping is not your thing, that's fine; the tool works exactly the same.
What It Is Not
- Not a dynamic QR code service. Open QR Maker only generates static codes.
- Not an analytics platform. There is no scan tracking, no redirect layer, no count of how many times your code has been scanned. (Using any kind of unique URL or identifier is a trivial way to keep track of scans if you need to. Ask your friendly neighborhood developer to implement it if you don't know how to do it yourself.)
- Not a QR code reader. The site generates codes but does not scan them. Any modern phone camera can read QR codes.
- Not responsible for the code you generate. There is no support contract, no SLA, no enterprise tier. If you need any of those, use a commercial service. Whatever you do, test the code with multiple devices before you print thousands of copies.

The home page should work for any kind of QR code. If you came here looking for a specific format, the dedicated landing pages preload the right input mode:
